I am not a particular fan of how much Google tracks my likes and dislikes, so I do not use their browser, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc..
I use ProtonMail, Signal, Naked Browser and occasionally Tor.
Google Research, which has designed all of the above mentioned apps has superb people working for them, so I have no issue recommending those products to you. I was a Beta tester for Google Research for years, so I am quite familiar with some of their stuff.
Descriptions:
Live Transcribe was developed by Google Voice and Gallaudet University for the Deaf. It instantly transcribes what a person is saying onto a screen for you to read. It is fast, accurate and is a wonderful tool to record any kind of audio, narration, lecture, interview, etc. since it can be saved as a text file for editing later. Awesome tool, very accurate and well beyond what it was envisioned for.
Files by Google is designed to quickly allow you to see large files on your phone, what type they are and offer to remove them for you. A simple, effective and no frills solution for maximizing your storage.
FX Explorer is a powerful, configurable file explorer with options to move, copy or delete files, even from cloud accounts. Simple interface, fairly easy to use and very powerful. I have tried at least 10 of these file explorers and this is the one I settled on.
Files to SD is a utility that identifies which files can be moved from your internal phone memory to your SD card safely (provided you have one installed.) Since Android works with your internal memory first, this can speed up your phone dramatically and save a huge amount of data into your SD card. It is so easy, everything is automatic, just press the button.
Neutron Music Player is widely considered the finest music player in the Android environment. It is loaded with options, senses any kind of audio file, is highly configurable or you can just preset what you like with individual profiles for Bluetooth speaker, ear buds or headphones. You will hear things you never noticed before, especially in MP3 files, since it uses a special processor for that. Amazing app. I paid extra for the Pro version.
Skitch is and was a beloved picture notation tool. It was purchased by Evernote 12 years ago and allowed to die. You can still find it by searching for "skitch apk" on the web. It can annotate shapes, arrows, text, highlights, erase, all in multiple colours and sizes. An oldy but very goody and dead simple to use.
Google Go Gallery is a lightweight, fast way to organize your pictures. Simple to use and very intuitive, it is like all of Google Go's products, just enough to get the job done without overwhelming your phone's resources.
Army Knife for Android is 10 little, simple utilities that you may find useful on occasion. Since they are all in one place, they are easy to find and use and don't tax your phone too much. Cute, simple, effective.
Shortcut Maker allows you to set up a task or function that will then execute by a single press on the icon. You can chain a series of actions. Effective and quite powerful.
Google Blogger is the original blogging app and still my favorite. Yes, you can use WordPress, but it can sometimes offer too many options for my simple blogging requirements. I like the ease of use a lot.
Network Cell Info Lite is a graphical tool to show you your cellular signal strength in multiple ways. It can plot which tower you are hitting and how well other users are getting signals and it helps you to chose which SIM to use in a specific area, if you have dual SIMs installed.
SnooCode lets you determine where exactly you are on the planet's surface and plot it on a Google Map within 10 meters WITHOUT A CELLULAR CONNECTION. Awesome!
Color Note is a repository for all your random data, notes, to-dos, trivia and the like. It is dead simple to use, very powerful and it finds whatever you have stored in the blink of an eye. I have 1800+ items, and I can retrieve one in a tenth of a second.
